First Round of Basketball Tournament

Rivendell swept the first weekend of the Woodsville – Wells River Rotary Club’s 43rd Basketball Tournament this weekend. The Rivendell Lady Raptors beat Haverhill’s Lady Hawks, 19-13 to win the girls championship and the Raptors beat the St Johnsbury Catamounts 43-22 to win the boys championship. In the consolation games, St Johnsbury’s Lady Catamounts played the Lyndon Lady Bulldogs and for the boys, the Lyndon Bulldogs played the Haverhill Hawks.

The Rotary Club congratulates all the players and sincerely thanks everyone who helped make the first round of the tournament such a success. Funds raised from the tournament support scholarships for local students.

The tournament continues next Saturday and Sunday, January 23th & 24th. Teams from, Barnet, Monroe, Waterford and BMU are participating. The first game starts at 1 p.m. each day and all games are at Blue Mountain Union School in Wells River. The Club is collecting food for local food banks, please consider bringing a non-perishable food item to donate when you come to the games.
